
Final Public Disclosure of Safeguard Documents
THE HOIMA-KINYARA 220KV TRANSMISSION LINE AND SUBSTATIONS FINANCED BY THE WORLD BANK (IDA)
FINAL PUBLIC DISCLOSURE OF SAFEGUARD DOCUMENTS
The Government of Uganda has received Credit from the International Development Agency (IDA) and wishes to apply part of the proceeds of the Credit to finance the construction of the proposed Hoima-Kinyara 220kV Transmission line and the associated substations at Hoima and Kinyara.
The Uganda Electricity Transmission Company Limited (UETCL) has finalised the feasibility studies of the project. The studies include the Technical and Economic Feasibility, the Social and Environment Assessment (SEA), and the Resettlement Action Plan (RAP). The above studies have been prepared by independent Consultants.
In accordance with the World Bank requirements, the SEA and the RAP (Safeguard documents) have to be disclosed both in Uganda and in the Bank’s Info Shop in Washington DC.
The disclosure is to enable all project affected persons and other stakeholders to access information and raise any concerns pertaining to the project. The current disclosure is based on the Final Documents. The Final SEA and RAP documents have been deposited at the following places for public review and comments:
- The NEMA Library
- The Local Council V and Chief Administrative Officers (CAOs) of Hoima and Masindi districts
- The District Environmental Officers of Hoima and Masindi districts
- Kampala City Council (KCC) Environment Office
- National Forestry Authority (NFA)
- Wetlands Division of the Ministry of Water and Environment
- The Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA)
- UETCL Environment Office
